Cruising down the coast

He we are in the tent.  For the first time ever, I was awake before anyone else!

We all were pretty snuggled in our little nest.
S and F like to roll around on the air mattress.
Why do I keep taking these upside down?  Sheesh.

M packed up camp and we headed out.  We drove down the coast on the Pacific Coast Highway.
Blue skies and water, water, water.
These little glimpses of hidden beaches were a treat.
Some of the birthday decorations relocated to the car.  Even those weren't enough to keep S awake on the most beautiful drive ever.
Poor M, doesn't get to do any peeking out the window.  Eyes on the road!

Everyone is awake now, and checking out that magnificent view. And asking, can we stop here?  Can we stop there?  Please?
So, we caved to the pressure and stopped at a little turnout.  Turns out (ha, ha) that we stumbled onto some pretty nifty tide pools.
We saw small fish in this freshwater creek, which empties out into the ocean
Ahoy, Mateys.  I see ocean out there.  Attack!
 Wild pirates on the loose.

The best seat in the house.
 The pebble sand was cool.
But launching seaweed was the big event.
 The bigger the better.

These two were happy to just sit for a bit.
But this one wanted to roam.
 His new super-hero name?  Wonder-N.
 These tacos love their papa.
 Not walking yet, but close!

The seaweed scavenger, she's always collecting something!
Back in the car, and onward to San Luis Obispo for a proper shower and a laundromat!  Post haste!
I've had this trusty hat for over 15 years, when my father-in-law bought it for me at the Ventura County Fair!
